It did not start with a poster, or advertisement. It started with a phone number of one of my current colleagues who was looking for potential employees among computer science students for an international IT company just starting its way in Riga.
After a couple of weeks I found myself in a meeting room of Accenture RDC. It was January 2004. Instead of a real job interview we ended up discussing about the cooperation possibilities with the student organization I was involved in. Thus my job interview was postponed. Two months later there was a seminar about job opportunities in Accenture for Riga Technical University students.
I decided to finish my studies first and only then look for a job. This decision allowed me to continue my active work for the student organization, which gave me a chance to work internationally and gain more experience what helps me to cope with multi-cultural projects environment still today.
My real Accenture story started the next day after I defended my master thesis in June 2005. It all happened very fast. I sent my CV and on the following day I was invited for the interview.
In a couple of weeks I was already sitting in the office and taking Siebel Core Developer course. When I completed my studies, I was involved in the project and could learn a lot by doing. I still have many things to learn, but it is not that difficult as my team mates are really helpful. There are certain areas in which I have more experience by now and thus I can explain and help my junior colleagues, just the same way I was treated when I was starting up my way in this company.
I enjoy the possibility to work with the technology that is not so common in Latvia, but well known and appreciated abroad. New challenges and tasks make the work life more interesting. Positive feedback from colleagues and clients keeps motivation high to go on the same way and even better.
