Great Place to Work for Women
With support from leadership all over the world, the Global Women’s Initiative offers programs such as mentoring and networking opportunities to ensure that women continue to succeed in our company.
Accenture celebrated International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 with an estimated 4,000 people participating from 11 time zones and 20 locations in a 30-hour, live, interactive global event and webcast that focused on the advancement of women in the workforce.
In Canada, the Great Place to Work for Women initiative has been in place since 2001. A formal organization--including a women's panel, women's networking chairs, and teams at each office location--is in place to drive the initiative.
The program’s objective is to support the development of women executives by providing them the opportunity to receive insight from a mentor.
A mentor is someone outside the employee's direct reporting relationship who facilitates candid and confidential discussions about work and career issues.
As 'protégés', employees are matched with volunteer mentors at the senior manager and senior executive levels. Protégés receive the opportunity to expand their network and gain insight on managing and maintaining a good work/life balance, while building their professional career. For the mentors, it is a great way to influence the development of the future leaders of Accenture.
Accenture was presented with the 2003 Catalyst Award for its women’s initiatives. Catalyst is an international organization focused on furthering the careers of women in business. Each year, three companies are selected to receive the prize for their innovative approach to recruiting, developing and advancing women.
