About Me

I was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I attended Memorial University and received a B.A. in Geography before entering a Graduate Program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). After university, I began work at a small GIS consulting firm in St. John’s, then moved to a firm in Ottawa to gain exposure to different types of projects.

Joining Accenture

I joined Accenture in 2003 as an Analyst in Accenture's Government operating group because of the company’s size, global presence and access to interesting contracts.

Working Life

I consider my career at Accenture to be an adventure! It is a dynamic, fast-paced company, which is always changing. Accenture provides its employees with significant responsibility and challenge, but there are always people willing to help you. Although there are many great things about Accenture, the people are what make working here such a great experience.

Work/Life Balance

I am a participant in the Accenture Women’s Networking Forum, and I volunteer for the annual United Way Campaign. These opportunities have enabled me to network and meet people outside of my workforce, while gaining insight and helping the community. To keep a healthy work and life balance I try to keep work at the office or client site and exercise whenever possible to alleviate stress.

Current Projects

I am currently working with a major government service provider, applying my GIS expertise. I have been involved in a variety of different roles with this client, which has ranged from system requirements gathering to concept initiation. The diversity of roles and projects I have been exposed to working for such a large-scale client make my job very interesting, and I really enjoy the team I work with. I have also been pleased by how quickly I have built new professional skills through direct interaction with the client.

Advice to Recruits

There is so much to learn here at Accenture. You may feel overwhelmed at first but just take it day by day. Don’t be afraid to jump on opportunities to take increased responsibility. Most importantly, remember to have fun and to not take yourself too seriously!
