For the third straight year, Accenture ranks #1 in the IT Services category of Fortune magazine’s list of America’s Most Admired Companies.
Accenture’s 2008 ranking also marks an increase in its overall score of 8.03, having finished with a 7.38 score in 2007 and 7.64 in 2006.
“We are thrilled and proud to be recognized for the third year in a row,” Chairman & CEO Bill Green said. “This accomplishment truly reflects the talent, capability and ongoing commitment of our people in serving our clients and executing our High Performance Business strategy.”
Accenture outranked competitors Electronic Data Systems and CSC, finishing #3 and #6, respectively, in the IT Services category. In the Computers category, competitors IBM ranked #2, down from #1 last year, and Hewlett Packard ranked #3, up from #5.
To compile the America’s Most Admired Companies list, Fortune, with assistance from the Hay Group, asked executives, directors and securities analysts to rate America’s largest companies, with only the 10 largest companies by revenues (at least $1.3 billion) considered in 70 industry categories.
Companies were ranked according to eight criteria: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products/services. Large subsidiaries of foreign-owned companies also were included.
The list is now available online and will appear in the March 17 print issue of the magazine.
