Human Resource Executive: October 16, 2007

In a Human Resource Executive profile of Jill Smart, head of Accenture’s People Enablement business, Accenture COO, Steve Rohleder, describes Smart as having the personality to “get the facts… establish a direction forward, and tackle tough situations in an unemotional and consistent way.”

An inductee to Human Resource Executive’s 2007 HR Roll, Smart has certainly paid her dues. She spent 20 years on the business side of the of Accenture’s consulting practice before being asked in 2000 to take on the company’s top HR post and “help Accenture as a client” by focusing her talents on re-inventing all the company’s learning and training programs.

Among Smart’s accomplishments in making HR a “business partner at Accenture”, she has:

Smart and her team have partnered with the University of Chicago to find an effective way to measure the impact of learning on the company’s recruiting, retention, chargeability and employee-performance ratings.
