Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI)
Developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, CMMI is a rating system that certifies a business's commitment to productivity, performance, cost efficiency and client satisfaction. The Software Engineering Institute has demonstrated that organizations adhering to CMMI standards can enjoy huge benefits such as increased use of key assets, enhanced productivity, reduced development time, lower costs and common processes for organizing work. Accenture organizations, particularly within the Accenture Global Delivery Network, are continuously improving their CMMI accreditation. Find out more.

CMMI ratings come in five levels (one to five, with five being the most excellent). It replaces the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) certification. For more information, visit the Software Engineering Institute.

Career Counselor
Everyone at Accenture is assigned a career counselor. This is someone who works in an area close to one’s own and who can give advice. Career counselors help one plan career steps, discuss any issues and decide how to develop one’s skills. While everyone is in charge of his or her own career (see Best People), career counselors are people that individuals can turn to for career advice and guidance. This is a more formal relationship than the buddy.

Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Organizationally, a CIO oversees a company’s information technology strategy and capability, specifically aligning it with business strategy. Much of Accenture’s work is helping CIOs develop technology strategies and capabilities that will enable business strategy.

Within Accenture, CIO refers to the organization that provides value-based technology solutions and services for Accenture, including developing and maintaining the technology and communications environment.
