Before working for Accenture I’d been working for six years in a global IT company. I spent the first three years on a variety of technical and business roles and the last three years I worked as a project manager and service manager.
I was attracted to Accenture by its global presence and reputation. Upon joining Accenture I have had project training approved by the Programme Manager which I am due to attend shortly. I’ve also recently attended a Services networking event where I found out about the mentoring programme within Accenture so I’m hoping to get a mentor soon.
Currently I’m part of the Project Management community between the BG Group and Thames Water accounts where we share best practices, increase unit awareness and develop personal relationships.
Day to day work has been what I expected at Accenture. The people I’ve met within Accenture so far seem to have a great amount of knowledge. My project has a friendly atmosphere, we work well together and everyone has been very helpful. I hope that by working together and sharing this knowledge we can deliver great results.
I’ve worked on a number of IT projects for the same client since joining Accenture. It’s been interesting working on all of them as they have been very different from each other in terms of technology, and because they’ve had a global reach – not just the UK.
I’m responsible for a number of projects and am currently managing the global deployment of a wireless application, migration of a number of applications to a new AD environment from NT servers, and ensuring the integrity of client’s IT services during necessary power outages. Most projects involve coordinating activities involving project teams based on a client site, Accenture Support teams based in Warwick and IT support teams based abroad.
In the short term, I would like to work closely with the client and successfully deliver large projects globally. In the long term I would like to progress to Programme Management and gain experience in different sectors.
