Consulting analyst, Mousumi Behari recently began her first project at Accenture. It involves field data collection and automation (FDCA) for a government client. Accenture is responsible for the mobile and office computing environments. Behari’s role will be to use some of her background knowledge and technical skills in portal technology and assist in designing a sound implementation.

Working on Global Teams

As technology advances the world seems to grow smaller. Behari explains with excitement, “While in training at Chicago, I met people from Italy, Denmark, Brazil, Israel, and even from where I grew up in Canada! We still keep in touch, using technology. It was really interesting to learn about different cultures and work ethics. Some people were so laid back, and others were a little more intense, but the common thread was definitely hard work—not only completing a job, but doing it well. The best part about meeting everyone was that my network now extends across the globe!”

Putting Skills to Work

Behari graduated with a computer science degree with a minor in mathematics from a private Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. From there, she went on to work at a leading engineering company as a software engineer. She also gained extensive experience in Web development and Web applications. “Those skills have proven to be very valuable, and have made my transition into Accenture an easy one.” Behari says.

Personal Satisfaction

“When I first applied to Accenture, travel was the perk I was looking for; little did I know that I would gain so many more opportunities in different fields and arenas. The first thing that really stood out to me was the people. Everyone is so outgoing, dynamic, intelligent, and motivated. Within the first couple of weeks at Accenture I had already formed some great friendships that would only grow stronger as we all went to the training in Chicago,” Behari says enthusiastically. Behari also admires the way Accenture, unlike most other companies, enables employees to manage their careers. “They provide excellent tools such as a career counselor, a human resources representative, and a sponsor. I’ve found a career counselor to be a very helpful resource. She is always there to discuss potential opportunities, and has given me great advice in maintaining a healthy work-life balance with all the traveling I do,” Behari explains. Behari concludes that Accenture really emphasizes staying current with the latest technologies, and methodologies, and this is exemplified by its expansive training curriculum. “As an analyst I went through five weeks of training before even starting at a client site. The exciting thing is that the training does not stop there,” Behari continues, “As you progress through your career, Accenture provides training specified to your level. In addition, training on new technologies is also available. With e-mails that highlight the latest industry trends, as well as hands-on meetings and conferences, you truly feel connected.”
