Accenture's CIO Organization was recently rated by two respected research firms as being in the top five percent of more than 300 Information Technology (IT) organizations within leading companies and large government agencies. We maintain Accenture’s IT infrastructure, implement forward-looking internal IT strategies and provide a wide range of IT services across the company, including design and development of business applications, help desk support, network management and maintenance, workstation support, telecommunications, and more.
We have standardized our technology use to center on two primary core technologies: SAP and Microsoft. We take pride in our “anytime, anywhere” approach when it comes to providing our people access to the Accenture network and global applications. We look for people with many different IT skills, particularly good problem solvers who can communicate and build relationships with people at all levels. We look for people with strong product management, project management, and design, build and testing skills. We also need people with specific skills in technologies such as SAP and Microsoft, application architecture and technical architecture, as well as packaged software implementation experience.
Within our organization there are several key areas:
The CIO Organization develops and supports hundreds of business applications that are used by all areas of Accenture. The Application Product Management (APM) group is the primary link between the CIO Organization and the business owners of these applications. When someone within Accenture wants to build a system to use internally, the Application Product Management team is involved in helping to get the idea approved and budgeted, determining the requirements of the system, and assembling a development team. Once the system is in production, APM plans its operation and ensures it has the right on-going support.
New internal Accenture systems are designed, built and tested by the professionals in our CIO Development Organization. The CIO Organization partners with our Global Delivery Network in several key development locations, including Chicago, Madrid, Manila and India. The Centers utilize a number of leading-edge technologies and use Accenture delivery tools and methods to ensure that we have standard, consistent processes and outcomes.
This group is responsible for Accenture’s overall technical architecture and the strategy and management of our internal infrastructure. The Infrastructure Services group helps manage a number of infrastructure services, including communications, hosting, customer support, and enablement devices (such as workstations). It also is involved in a variety of personal productivity and team services, including e-mail, files services, collaboration tools and printing services. The Accenture CIO Organization takes security very seriously, so our people often find themselves working on ways to “lock, block and protect” critical and confidential Accenture information and property.
The Business Operations group looks after the activities involved in running our IT business, such as providing Human Resource support, planning Town Hall events for CIO personnel, writing newsletters and other communications that keep CIO people in touch with one another, determining training needs for our personnel, and many other activities. The Business Operations group is also involved in managing the financial planning and IT planning functions for the CIO Organization, and reporting on our financial and business performance. Positions in Business Operations could also involve managing activities to review and improve our processes or supporting our major IT initiatives and ensuring that all of our work is in compliance with general audit and policy rules.
