Bangalore Center of Excellence showcases Communications & High Tech capabilities

The Center of Excellence offers a place for clients to meet Accenture professionals.

With the inauguration of its new Center of Excellence for Communications & High Tech in Bangalore, India, Accenture has expanded its technology outsourcing capabilities in delivery in such areas as billing, network operations, supply chain, product software solutions and digital transformation.

Thirty-five Accenture executives attended the June 24, 2008 inauguration at the “Bang 4” facility.

“The Center of Excellence is an important differentiator for us here in India,” said Abhay Kelkar, senior executive-Systems Integration & Technology leading the Delivery Center Network for Technology for Communications & High Tech in India. “With Bangalore considered Asia’s ‘Silicon Valley’ because of its thriving IT industry, it was critical for Communications & High Tech to build a branded showcase where clients can see that we have both technology skills and industry experience.”

Abhijit Kabra, senior executive-Systems Integration & Technology and head of the Bangalore Center of Excellence, noted that the center is a key differentiator that showcases Accenture’s most valuable asset: its people. More than 500 of Accenture’s 7,500 Communications & High Tech professionals in India work in the Center of Excellence. Visiting clients who are interested in moving their operations offshore now have the opportunity to interact with the professionals who would help deliver their work. These visits bring to life how the project teams work together, the tools they use and the processes they follow.

“Clients ride the elevators and walk the halls with Accenture management and staff," Kabra said. "They’re not looking at the Center of Excellence through a glass wall, they’re walking alongside our professionals and getting to know them."

Engaged employees

Besides seeing how Accenture professionals work, visitors can join interactive “people panels” with delivery center professionals so they can hear open dialogue about Accenture’s operation. The panels showcase the industry, functional and technical skills of Accenture professionals.

Accenture’s position in the marketplace will be further highlighted by the Innovation Center at the Bangalore center, a special conference room showcasing some of Accenture’s projects that is scheduled to launch at the end of October 2008.

But most importantly, the Center of Excellence offers a place for clients to simply meet Accenture professionals.

“People are enthusiastic about working for Accenture, and that shows when our clients visit the Bangalore center and meet them,” Kabra said. “Engaged employees are a great asset.”
