Career Development

We pride ourselves on enabling our people to get the most out of their work—and that they often stay with Accenture to build long-term careers. We provide long-term onsite opportunities through our Global Careers programme as well as the latest and best training and development. We also offer Career Counselling to help you decide where you want your skills to take you and an internal job postings programme to support your career advancement. Also, our performance management programmes will keep you updated with your own progress, as will our range of communication and feedback initiatives.

Each employee has an opportunity to build his/her career along three dimensions: technical/functional, project management and industry specialisation. Depending on the interest of the employee, a career path is defined and development programmes are put in place to enable the employee to realise his or her career goal. We also periodically review the progress of the employee along the chosen career path. This is undertaken in collaboration with the employee, the supervisor and the career counsellor. To help realise their career goals, employees are provided with ample opportunities to move within or across our businesses—consulting, technology and outsourcing.

Career management at Accenture is a collaborative journey where we work with employees to help them realise their aspirations.

Career Progression

As part of a pace-based workforce, Solutions people are expected to take on new challenges to advance and grow to new responsibilities. The career levels, combined with our capabilities and specialties, have been designed to help ensure that Solutions people develop the deep, market-relevant IT skills that our clients seek. At each level, members of the Solutions workforce have distinct skills and responsibilities.

Global Careers Programme

Global Careers Programme Our Global Careers Programme provides employees with long-term onsite opportunities and exposure to global standards through Accenture. For Accenture, this means rising to the challenge of providing resources at different locations across the globe in different skill areas across multiple projects.

This programme addresses key skill shortages in some of the geographies that are a part of the Accenture Global Delivery Network’s facilitation of an end-to-end delivery model. This programme also addresses better integration of onsite and offshore resources.

Increasing opportunities for onsite assignments at client locations give you the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of our clients’ business and enhance your technology implementation skills.

Internal Job Postings Programme

The scope, scale and variety of our projects create tremendous opportunities for you, providing avenues for continuous learning, growth and enhanced career mobility to build your functional knowledge by moving across projects through ”Career Pathway,” our internal job postings programme. We encourage cross-functional movements to help you gain diverse domain expertise across our various lines of business. This programme provides employees with the support needed to achieve career advancement through a transparent and predictable selection process, robust feedback and more choice in terms of opportunities.

Career Counselling

Our dynamic approach towards the growth and development of our employees extends to career management. Each individual has a structured career path, designed in collaboration with the employee and his or her career counsellor. Every employee at Accenture has a designated career counsellor who is often someone other than the reporting supervisor. The counsellor is responsible for monitoring, mentoring and counselling the employee to assist him/her grow within the organisation.

Performance Management

Performance Management is one of our most important processes because it enables us to evaluate individual performance, coach our people in their development and reward them appropriately. This process also supports career development through the sharing of detailed performance feedback, which highlights an individual’s strengths and areas for development.

The performance management process is a shared responsibility among individuals; their supervisors and career counsellors play a critical role in providing feedback and career guidance to Solutions workforce professionals. Counselees are responsible for taking ownership of their career development. This approach to performance management and career development encourages open and honest communication about strengths and development needs. It enables individuals to lead their career development in a direction that will be most meaningful to them proactively.

Communication and Feedback

In an organisation as big as ours, clear communication is vital. Therefore, if something happens at work, such as a change in personnel policy or in business direction, we make sure you know about it straightaway. We are also keenly interested in your point of view, so we build channels that enable you to provide and get feedback. Our Global Employee Survey is an annual opportunity for you to tell us how you feel about everything—training, rewards, culture, job satisfaction, etc. The Accenture Portal, an internal information site, has an area dedicated to employee feedback and discussion.
