The client was concerned that its supply chain would be unable to keep up with ambitious growth targets and would hinder its ability to achieve identified goals.

Accenture undertook a 10-month global supply chain transformation exercise. The project team had eight full-time members from Accenture, with inputs from two overseas subject-matter experts and a client team of 12 full-time members. The two phases of the
exercise were the diagnosis phase and the
implementation phase:

Diagnosis phase (4 months):

• Identifying the right supply chain models and strategy
• Defining end-to-end supply chain processes
• Integrating new-product launch activities
• Defining organisation structure, tools and frameworks

Implementation phase (6 months):

• Implementing recommendations across four key regions (India, Russia, the United States, Sri Lanka) and three key plants
• Fine-tuning final recommendations
• Monitoring and tracking implementation progress and benefits

• Robust and scaleable supply chain strategy implemented
• Significant benefits accrued (lower lost sales, higher capacity utilisation, optimal inventory)
