Accenture’s name comes from the combination of the words, “accent” and “future.”

What does Accenture do?

Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. Committed to delivering innovation, Accenture collaborates with its clients to help them become high-performance businesses and governments. Accenture is publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol "ACN".

How is the company structured?

We are organized in two ways: through Operating Groups, and through Work Groups. Operating Groups are industry groups that describe where people develop industry acumen and undertake client work. It defines the clients, markets and dynamics. Accenture has developed specialized expertise in five broad Operating Groups: Communications and High Tech, Financial Services, Government, Products, and Resources.

Work Groups address opportunities and challenges common across industries: things like customer relationship management (CRM) and supply chain. Our people use these groups to develop specialized skills and expertise in business consulting, technology services, and outsourcing.

Where will I work?

Consultants, people in our Accenture Technology Solutions and those working on outsourcing jobs usually work off-site—in the offices of our clients. Those working for us in support functions are often based in local offices of Accenture.

If I’m working off site, how will I stay connected to Accenture?

We help you stay connected to Accenture in a number of ways. You will be a part of regular training to hone specific skills, and be invited to special meetings and local office events so that you can meet and interact with colleagues beyond your immediate project team. Accenture also has regular electronic newsletters and communiqués—on the local and firmwide levels—to help you stay informed.

Will I work internationally?

Accenture is an international company, and as such, international travel is often a part of the job. Just how much depends on their specific workforce. For instance, consultants travel more than most people working on outsourcing engagements. But regardless of whether you’re on a plane or not, all of our people get international exposure by working in multi-cultural teams, and collaborating with different groups based in regions all over the world.

Can I still progress with my peers if I take steps to balance my personal and professional life?

Most people working at Accenture have a passion for their jobs—and work hard. A good deal of our work is project-based which means there will times where the work-load is quite demanding. Despite this, you can influence your participation in your work. And you can still advance and have a balanced life. Yes, there are some assignments and roles that have greater time or travel demands than others. We can work with you to determine how to best use your skills and also meet your need for a balanced lifestyle.
