According to IDC, the premier global supplier of market intelligence, advisory services and events for the IT, telecommunications and consumer technology markets, Accenture has overtaken IBM Global Services as the new worldwide leader among Systems Integration Services providers. Accenture’s rise to the number one worldwide position was due to the company’s response to customers’ increased investments in service-oriented architecture (SOA), infrastructure improvements and application services. Accenture’s $450 million investment in service-oriented architecture (SOA) services positioned Accenture to take full advantage of a rebounding Systems Integration market and customers’ increase demand for these services.
Accenture HR BPO Services has bagged the Provider of the Year award at the first ever Human Resources Outsourcing Association’s Europe Annual Awards. Accenture clinched the award with its far-reaching involvement with multi-national clients such as Unilever and Thomas Cook. Accenture supplies Unilever with a broad range of HR and learning services as part of this deal. Unilever was named the Practitioner of the Year for its scope of global HR BPO contract, which covers 100 countries and 200,000 employees.
Accenture has been named on InfoWorld’s 2006 list for transforming its legacy systems. This was done on a grand scale, considering that it is a multi-million dollar global ERP project that affected 35,000 end users, 133,000 employees and processes billions in transactions, with over one terabyte of data stored in SAP Business Warehouse. Accenture completed one of the largest and fastest SAP implementations in the services sector, replacing 450 widely distributed legacy systems inherited from Andersen Worldwide with a global, single-instance SAP enterprise solution, which integrates finance, sales, HR systems and reporting capabilities and interfaces with 175 downstream systems such as recruiting, scheduling and payroll. In this manner, Accenture knitted together several layers of business and technical integration to produce the data-sharing necessary for a complex business structure.
