What does Accenture actually do? Simple. We use the combined talents of our people to help businesses and governments improve the way they perform. It means being constantly aware of the changing patterns of business. And being prepared to continually embrace new ways of doing things.
The Accenture business is structured to suit our clients and the marketplace. There are two components—industry expertise and specialised skills—that together will define your role, and determine your main focus of work and the kind of assignments you get, as well as the approaches and technologies that you’re likely to use. From the start, you’ll be expected to develop and expand your skills in your particular field of expertise so that we can continue to deliver original solutions to our clients based both on deep insight and solid execution.
Accenture’s business is structured around five industry sectors that we call Operating Groups: Communications & High-Tech (serving the communications, electronics and high-tech, media and entertainment industries); Financial Services (banking, capital markets and insurance); Products (automotive, consumer goods, health services, retail, transportation); Resources (chemicals, energy, natural resources and utilities) and Government. These Operating Groups have primary responsibility for managing client relationships and selling our services. The services and solutions we offer fall into three categories: Management Consulting, Systems Integration & Technology and Outsourcing. We call these three categories our “growth platforms”. They are our springboards for innovation, and function as centres of excellence where we build our world-class skills and capabilities to drive the growth of the company. Growth platforms also provide the expertise that ensures smooth delivery of services and solutions to clients. This structure enables us to meet client expectations and our business objectives while providing excellent career opportunities for our people. From a business point of view, the high degree of specialisation across business functions, industry sectors and technologies helps us be more efficient and respond more quickly to our clients. Just as important, it also drives the career development of our people, allowing them to build deep, marketable skills and gain experience that adds value to their careers. Working in this way enables us to pull together quickly integrated teams of specialists who can provide clients with the best possible solutions, and at the same time offer our people a constant variety of challenging work. All graduates who are recruited in our Consulting workforce join as Analysts. As an Analyst you will be deployed into a growth platform where you will work in project teams. Your core responsibility will be the delivery of the project outcomes.
We also have capabilities or skills groups that offer in-depth, cross industry expertise in particular areas. Every member of the Consulting workforce builds specialised skills related to one of our capability groups. This defines your main focus of work and the kind of assignments you get, as well as the assets, tools and technologies that you're likely to use.
