I completed a Masters in Science in Business Administration at Uppsala University and specialized in finance and accounting. After that I joined Accenture in 2000. Before that I’d worked part time as a business reporter for a Swedish journal and also had experience with a big language education company. My last year in school I became more and more interested in consulting as a career.
When I graduated university there was a lot of hype in the marketplace about dot-com companies. But I wanted to join a major firm. Accenture was a natural target because several friends of mine already worked here and they recommended it.
This company offers such a range of services—from strategy consulting to outsourcing. That makes us unique in the marketplace. We have a broad base of competencies so regardless of the business problem we're likely to have a solution or the know-how to develop one. And I like the people here personally and professionally. I know I sound a bit like the marketing campaign, but this is truly a high-performing company! People here are eager to team. You never have to ask for something twice.
In a way I think every project at Accenture is rewarding. There are always new clients, industries, and challenges. The project I’m doing right now is a classical strategy assignment. It’s to help a company in the industrial equipment sector turn around one of its key business lines. In strategy consulting, the client questions are often quite open; the client will have an idea of what areas they need help with, but mostly the context is very broad. That makes for a very exciting work environment.
