I have a BA from Uppsala University and I did complementary studies at Luiss University in Rome. I’m also a certified psycho-synthesis therapist. That’s an offspring of Jungian psychotherapy. I joined Accenture in 2001. Before that, I’d worked for five years with a large high-tech company as a training manager in Sweden. My role changed, and I moved into a position as an alliance manager for the company. I also worked during the dot-com boom at a high-tech company in Germany.
I wanted to come back to Sweden and I felt the time was right to try consulting. And I was interested in working for a global company. I knew that Accenture was at the forefront of technology. Joining Accenture allowed me to leverage my combined experience: to blend my background from the global high-tech company with my year with the dot-com. And it allowed me to build my consulting skills.
I like the organizational setting. I have complete flexibility in terms of work hours as long as I deliver what I’m supposed to—the where and how doesn’t matter. Accenture supports me with the right technology to help me do my job virtually. That allows me to balance work with my home life and children. No salary in the world can compensate for that! I’m really proud of Accenture for understanding my needs and accommodating them!
I also like the culture here. For such a large organization it’s surprisingly entrepreneurial. You are encouraged to weigh in on situations—you don’t have to hold back or check yourself even if you have critical commentary on aspects of a project. The management of this company really wants you to take risks—to be bold and creative.
I work with alliance management. Since I work in a support function, it’s harder to isolate the effects of what I do. But to me the most rewarding work I’ve been doing over the past years has been to follow, support, and contribute to the operation of Avanade in Sweden. (A company jointly owned by Microsoft and Accenture—established in September 2005 in Nordic.)
My role involves facilitating the two organizations to work as one: to get the right people collaborating and get business activity rolling. That involves knowledge transfer, account planning, marketing—all aspects of business operation. Having a part in establishing the success of Avanade in Sweden has been incredibly rewarding.
