Accenture Consulting professionals

Innovation is the heart of success in business today—and it will be the same in the future. Our Consulting professionals work closely with clients, helping them change the way they do business in order to achieve high performance. Our Consulting professionals design, sell and deliver comprehensive business solutions, drawing upon knowledge and experience from across Accenture’s global network.

Consultants also develop and apply experience in an industry, business, technical or functional area. This
determines the type of work they do and the clients with
whom they can expect to work. Our consultants belong
to one of two work groups that determine the type of
consulting work they do:

Management Consulting or
Systems Integration & Technology (SI&T)

Our business is structured so we can best meet the needs of our diverse clients and is split into five client service groups: Communications & High Tech, Health & Public Service, Resources, Financial Services and Products.

Each group offers a deep understanding of its sector—the business issues, the part technology can play and the best way to give our clients the edge. This means that, as well as developing a specific skill, you will put it into practice within a particular industry. Technology is a very important tool for anyone who works at Accenture so you’ll quickly develop a certain amount of ‘tech savvy’ (if you didn’t arrive with it).

Management Consulting professionals focus on strategy and take responsibility for organisational change and business transformation.

Systems Integration & Technology Consulting (SI&T) professionals are responsible for delivering large-scale, complex programmes that marry processes with solution development and technology to assist clients to transform the way they do business. Some clients specifically ask for packaged and industry-specific solutions by product name.

What is the work environment like?

Consultants work closely with clients, often in a fast-paced environment. They work in and learn from teams that bring together relevant specialists from across Accenture. Consulting work typically takes place at client sites, so you’ll generally need to be flexible around where you work.

If the challenge of working sensibly yet flexibly sounds appealing to you, the next step is to identify which area would suit you best. To help you decide, read on for a run-down on each; although it’s worth remembering that whichever area becomes your base, you’ll have plenty of contact with the others.

Career path

The one thing we set in stone is that you bring with you a desire to learn and progress. Ours is a culture of promotion, but not in the conventional sense. You won’t have to wait for a vacancy to arise in order to move up the ranks. It’s decided on merit – if you’re producing great work, adding value to your clients and to Accenture, and bringing real innovation to your projects, you’ll be rewarded. It really is as simple as that. Find out more
