Darren joined Accenture Technology Solutions as a senior software engineer in 2004, having previously worked at small software houses developing web-based applications. He is now an associate manager.

Accenture Technology Solutions appealed to me as I wanted the challenge of working with highly skilled people on a variety of large projects. It has lived up to my expectations. I’ve met a lot of skilful and motivated colleagues who all work incredibly hard to deliver demanding work. A large number of very friendly Solutions and Consulting people worked on my first project and they made me feel welcome and pushed me to take on challenges right from the very start.

The last large project I worked on was one of my best experiences. My role changed dramatically over the life cycle of the project. I started out as the technical architect who was needed to train people in one of our Indian Delivery Centres in Chordiant development—but I also designed the platform to deliver the project on and I ended up as a bug fixer! The project was incredibly complex and the hours could be long sometimes, but the team of people delivering it were awesome and I hope I can work with them again. In fact, generally the people here are an incredibly intelligent and highly skilled bunch who gives a lot to deliver whatever the project demands.

If you’re thinking of joining Accenture Technology Solutions then I would have some advice. Make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons and have a good idea of what to expect: a consultancy is a long way from a software house! And never underestimate the value of good relationships. I definitely want to grow my career here and hope next to direct the technical architecture of a large application.
