Abe Taylor was originally an Industrial placement student before joining Accenture full-time. Taking some time away, he obtained his CIMA qualification and worked elsewhere before re-joining in Outsourcing in Accenture. I’ve always liked the people, approach to work and learning opportunities at Accenture. Plus if anyone can keep pace with the ever-changing environment, I would like to think Accenture could. When I joined I was relocating from London to Aberdeen, and it appealed as Talisman Energy are one of the major players in Aberdeen. As Accenture have a large outsourcing team on the account, the role should lead to more opportunities.I was helped to settle into the role from the start with good support from my Manager and invites to some social events. I like working on client site as it provides you with more learning opportunities and exposure to the actual business and industry, as well as the chance to mix with a variety of people from different backgrounds. There is also a good range of work, so there are plenty of options to switch roles. The people at Accenture are a major factor for me. I’ve always worked for good supportive managers alongside top people who have become good friends, both inside and outside of work. I also find that the people at Accenture seem to be more focused on the solution, which is the way I like to work.I currently focus on supporting the Tax team, as well as providing some cover on the Revenue side. In addition to looking after the tax billings, cash forecasts and accounts, I have also concentrated on projects which have included improving the use of SAP through to Tax Research & Development projects on the WindFarm and Calcium Napthenate Control, which have all been very interesting pieces of work. My tips if you’re joining? Just be yourself, get involved with both client and Accenture events and show a willingness to learn. This way you will make good friends, build closer client relationships and get a lot more out of a role within Services.
