Before joining Accenture, Runita was at Aston University studying Business and Politics. In her third year, she spent 13 months at Fujitsu Siemens Computers as an Industrial Placement student. She joined Accenture as an Analyst after completing her degree. Joining Accenture has so far been fantastic in terms of the general support and helpfulness of people. My career counsellor has guided me along the way, ensuring I initially settled in well and that I’m still enjoying my current role. There are always opportunities to get involved in many different networks and events hosted by Accenture which is a great way of meeting people and expanding my network of colleagues and friends.I am currently working on a Desktop Deployment project within Vodafone as the Technology Liaison for Vodafone and the project team, which involves interacting with senior management and stakeholders. I really enjoy it. My role is mostly client facing and every day is different. Working at Accenture has surpassed my expectations, mainly because this project has enabled me to build skills beyond those which I thought I would acquire as a new Analyst. The project also gives me the opportunity to manage client and key project deliverables, learning the fundamentals of project management and desktop deployment. I have had valuable exposure to both technical and business related aspects of the project which has allowed me to quickly acquire new skills. My original expectations were that I would be in the background supporting activities, however being more client facing has meant I have been able to greatly refine my communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. I work with people across Accenture, which to me has been the most interesting aspect of work as I’m always gaining insight into new ideas. We all are working towards the same goal on any project which is to deliver for the client, and so we guide and support each other. All of my team are very approachable, regardless of their level within the company. I enjoy working under strict timescales in order to deliver to the client as promised. Often, as with any job, extra effort is sometimes required to deliver what has been promised. I find the best way to manage this is to use the hours in the day efficiently and organise and prioritise my activities. Accenture is a fantastic organisation in which to work, with huge opportunities to develop and progress a career. By being flexible, I hope to carry on developing new skills and expertise to specialise in my areas of interest in the coming years.
