The Outsourcing workforce delivers outsourcing services and solutions to a growing list of 450 clients, each with specific business operations needs and delivery level requirements. This means there is no single, definitive Outsourcing work environment or type of work. Instead, we focus on working in a way that best meets our client’s needs, respect their culture and enables us to get our job done.

What this means in day-to-day terms is that you could find yourself working on a long-term, operational role or it could be shorter-term and project based. You could be based on-site with a client, in a BPO Unit office or working in an Accenture Delivery Centre or another of our offices. Our global network of Accenture Delivery Centres houses teams of technology and functional specialists who manage applications, run business processes and support technology infrastructure.

The majority of our outsourcing people work in what we call “client operations”. They design, manage and implement the day-to-day activities associated with key business functions. The difference with working in one of these functions at Accenture is that you’ll be in a front-line role. You could have a customer-facing position where you’ll have opportunities to think differently, provide input to improve processes and ultimately deliver better services to clients

In addition to client operations people, most projects will involve a group of specialists who are responsible for managing the deal, building the client relationship and developing solutions. They manage the transition of employees and fill in temporary roles at the start of a project. These specialists tend to work with a number of different clients and are likely to travel around, spending up to 18 months on short- to medium-term assignments.

Some outsourcing deals require highly specialised skills such as developing new systems and business applications. This is where we call on our experts in particular fields of function and process – our capability specialists. Typically, these people are contracted to projects where specific application development skills – e.g. Siebel, SAP and Oracle – are required on a short-term basis. Their job is to design and build customised solutions, travelling wherever they’re needed.

Whatever your role, you can look forward to working with diverse groups of people from different backgrounds, with a vast range of skills and experience.

If, like many of our people, you are based long-term at a client location, we do our best to make sure you still feel part of the Accenture team. An important part of that comes from connecting you to our global network so you can still exchange knowledge and maintain your network of friends and contacts.

It’s not all about work, though – we also recognise the importance of your life away from the office. We have a flexible approach that encourages you to strike the right balance between work and personal life. The exact options open to you will depend on the project you’re involved in, your position and role.
