Nikki Guevarra graduated from Northwestern University in 2006 with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Psychology. She joined Accenture Technology Labs for an opportunity to help develop new and emerging technologies in business.
I’m currently working on a data center transformation project team that is transitioning an entire enterprise infrastructure to just three global data centers in the United States, India and Germany. My specific role includes coordinating with local resources in the global locations and application owners to schedule, control, and support the migrations. I use skills and knowledge in ITIL, data center migration and infrastructure transformation to perform my duties.
I find that I’m applying my engineering mindset everyday. My ability to analyze and streamline processes not only helps me in my client work, but in effectively and efficiently completing my everyday work. Accenture’s training prepared me for client work by simulating all the different phases of a project, from beginning to end. And the many training opportunities have provided a chance to meet Accenture people from around the world!
In addition to my project work, I’m involved in my local office where I participate in women’s networking events and am part of the Chicago Eco Team. I’m most proud of my role as the Chicago Community Service Lead for the Technology Labs, through which I’ve built relationships with the non-profit organization NetHope and Chicago Public School system. And I can still find time to maintain my hobbies—particularly performing, teaching and competing in ballroom dance.
I am extremely satisfied with my career at Accenture. I’m connected with helpful, intelligent and pro-active people that keep me coming back to the office every day. The work that I do challenges me to learn and grow both technical and soft skills. Accenture is a great place to work because the company truly allows one to build one’s own career. I am given as much responsibility as I am willing to take, and I always feel like I am a valuable contributor to every Accenture project and initiative that I pursue.
