Case Interview Process — 2 Types of Cases

Remember, there is no "right" approach or answer to the case. There are usually several credible approaches and solutions; it is most important to provide a thoughtful, structured response. You are not always expected to have deep industry knowledge related to the case - but you are expected to be effective with the knowledge you do have and make hypotheses based on sound common sense. To help you with the case interview, look below at a framework that guides you through a structured approach to problem solving.

Business Cases

There are two types of business cases, differing according to the amount of information with which you are provided:

"The Great Unknown"

"The Parade of Facts"

Brain Teasers

Brain teaser cases are used less commonly than business cases in Strategy interviews. There are two types of brain teaser cases, with the estimation case being more popular to test consulting skills.
