Life at Accenture: Corporate Citizenship
|
|
|
We're committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and making a positive difference to the world around us. There are a number of ways we're doing so. We use our consultancy skills to benefit organizations in developing economies. We give time and money to various charities and community projects. We minimize our environmental impact as an organization.
Giving: Time & Skills
As an employee, you will be able to volunteer through the following Accenture-sponsored initiatives: - Skills Based Volunteering projects in several locations, which will allow Accenture people to use their Accenture skills while volunteering with nonprofit organizations.
- “Done in a Day” Volunteering: These are the projects you know and love – teaching in a classroom; beautifying a park; working at a food bank…or raising money through Accenture-supported fundraising activities.
- National Nonprofit Partners: Through our four national nonprofit partners (Aidmatrix, Hands On Network/Points of Light, Junior Achievement and NPower), we arm nonprofits and civic organizations with the strategy, technology and operational assistance they need to better achieve their missions. The majority of Accenture’s skills based and hands-on volunteer projects benefit our national nonprofit partners and their affiliated organizations.
- International Volunteering: The Voluntary Service Overseas and Accenture Development Partnerships efforts enable Accenture employees to work in developing countries, sharing their skills, knowledge and experience with nonprofit organizations, small businesses and local communities.
Financial Giving Our people not only give abundantly of their time and talent, but they also give generous financial support. Our 2006 Employee Giving Campaign raised more than $3.9 million for member agencies of United Way, Earth Share, Global Impact and Community Health Charities. And through Aidmatrix, our employees donated nearly $76,000 to our Virtual Food Drive.
Hundreds of educational institutions have also benefited from the giving spirit of Accenture people, and as a new employee you can support the institution of your choice. In 2006, Accenture and its employees donated more than $5 million to 486 US colleges and universities through the Accenture Foundation matching gift program.
Environment Accenture is also committed to environmental responsibility. All toner cartridges and 15 percent of the office supplies Accenture purchases are recycled or manufactured from recycled materials. We have also developed a centrally managed US-wide program for shredding and recycling for all key US locations, and a recycling program for mobile devices, toner, laptops and MP3 players. In addition, Accenture ensures that new office build-outs are conscious of environmental impacts.
Accenture people want to work for a company that is environmentally responsible and have expressed an eagerness to contribute to that reality. To tap into this enthusiasm, Accenture leadership developed three ways for employees to get involved in reducing our collective environmental impact: local “Eco teams,” green project toolkits and a personal carbon footprint tracking tool. You will learn more about these programs upon joining Accenture.
