Meet Regenia R. Sanders, a senior manager at Accenture in Atlanta, Georgia.
Senior manager
Supply Chain Management

“In order to truly excel, it’s important to have a sense of belonging. Groups like the African-American Interest Group allow new joiners as well as more seasoned Accenture professionals to grow and expand their networks and build strong relationships that can help in creating a rewarding career.”

Being a part of Accenture means speaking the same language as colleagues all over the globe—no matter what their native tongue happens to be. Atlanta-based Regenia Sanders is currently working on a project that requires extensive travel to France (one of those cases where the ball just bounced right) and she has been impressed by the way that Accenture people from different geographical regions work together—something her client has also remarked upon. Regenia attributes this to the stability of Accenture’s methodology and the top-notch training open to all employees. “This project has given me the opportunity to see just how global Accenture really is—and how all over Accenture you find a unique synergy and consistency geared to helping clients reach for high performance,” Regenia says.

Accenture’s ability to create a common platform spanning the world’s diverse cultures and economies is built on its recognition that diversity is important and adds value to the organization. Regenia joined the African-American Interest Group soon after she joined Accenture—she now heads the local branch in Atlanta—and has found it a valuable experience: “In order to truly excel, it’s important to have a sense of belonging. Groups like the African-American Interest Group allow new joiners as well as more seasoned Accenture professionals to grow and expand their networks and build strong relationships that can help in creating a rewarding career.” Regenia believes that Accenture continues to make great strides in creating an environment where everyone feels that he or she matters, and where her or his own unique talents are valued.

Regenia is currently a senior manager in the Supply Chain group at Accenture’s Atlanta office. She graduated from Auburn University with a Master of Science degree in 1998, and has been with Accenture since 1997. She is currently team lead for post-sales support on a global SAP implementation project—the one that requires all that travel to France. While college training is important as a foundation, Regenia is clear that it is outweighed by the training and practical client experience she received from Accenture: “From program management to very specific topics in supply chain, the training that I have received from Accenture has not only been enlightening but also very practical,” she explains.

The foundation of Accenture, Regenia believes, is the quality of its people and the challenge of helping clients to achieve high performance. “Accenture must do a good job of recruiting because over the past 10 years I have been fortunate to work with some extremely talented people who have challenged me to put my best foot forward,” she says. She has also found many colleagues who share the same interests. For example, Regenia is passionate about nonprofits, and through Accenture has met numerous people who have supported her community involvement. “This has helped me gain more exposure to an area I am passionate about, and given me the opportunity to extend my consulting skills to those organizations with which I’m involved,” she notes gratefully.

“I know it sounds like a cliché, but I’ve always believed that anything is what you make of it,” says Regenia. “Accenture provides incredible opportunities to work with amazing people and challenging projects. Seizing the opportunity, building strong relationships and keeping the right perspective are my keys to a successful career.”
