Current Projects

Harveer Singh says that during his past two years with Accenture, he has experienced the complete consultant lifestyle, ranging from traveling between states and overseas for projects and training. Singh is currently working in the data conversion and extract-transform-load (ETL) teams responsible for running the pilot to transform a client’s legacy system into a new system with full data warehouse and reporting capability. He is working across a variety of platforms and technologies—IBM Ascential Suite, Oracle and Mainframe—and is responsible for data profiling and designing the proof of concept.

Working on Global Teams

“Accenture has given me an opportunity to travel around the work for training and projects,” Singh says happily. He joined Accenture in Sydney about two years ago. The Australian Taxation Office in Canberra was Singh’s first project at Accenture; the largest government modernization project in the Asia/Pacific region. Singh explains, “The skills that I gained on the project enabled me to transfer to the New York office and work in the United States, and to build deep skills in the business intelligence space.” He was involved in designing and developing cutting-edge architecture which has never been implemented anywhere in the world. He also designed ETL applications, data architecture, database management, data warehousing and reporting architectures over a period of 21 months.

Putting Skills to Work

“I have experienced a huge growth not only in my technical skills but also in my interpersonal and management skills. Accenture has provided a unique support structure in the form of career councilors, mentors and sponsors. I have used the skills gained to help our clients become high-performance businesses as well,” Singh explains. “Accenture’s partnerships with most vendors give me a chance to get access to different tools to play with. I have been trained in various IBM technologies and database technologies. I have also attended various workshops with various vendors. This has enabled me to perform at a high level and deliver value to the client’s business.”

Personal Satisfaction

Singh says that he has thoroughly enjoyed the work that he has done so far. He continues, “I see a huge potential to grow with the global growth of the company. Accenture has given me a lifestyle that I always wanted—especially as regards fulfilling my desire to travel. Further the support that I have got from my career counselor has been amazing. I believe there is no other place which would give you such freedom to grow.”
