“I build new skills in each role and I have really enjoyed taking those skills and applying them as I accept new responsibilities.”
Jennifer Seeley
Manager
Supply Chain Execution
Cleveland, OH

Jennifer Seeley chose a career with Accenture because she wanted to work for a consulting firm with an excellent reputation in supply chain and technology solutions. Equipped with a background in logistics and internal consulting, and a MBA from Fisher College of Business—Accenture’s Supply Chain Management service line provided an excellent fit. Jennifer says, “On the Supply Chain Execution team there are a lot of opportunities for developing long-term supply chain strategies and technology solutions with clients. I have a good amount of implementation experience, and I enjoy this type of work.”

Jennifer is currently a Site Lead for Accenture’s first Yard Management System (YMS) implementation for a large operations client. “Our team is implementing a third-party software solution, providing 24-hour coverage across six shifts. I am responsible for coordinating the on-site training and support activities, managing the client relationship, and working with the software provider to customize the software for our client. I meet with both the client and the software provider on a daily basis, acting as a liaison to assist in developing a long-term supply chain strategy for yard management.” The system is currently in a pilot phase and could be released as a national solution across 40 locations in the US.

Previous to her groundbreaking YMS project, Jennifer led a team of consultants and analysts in designing a custom software solution to replace several mainframe applications that were being used for international distribution. “Once I understand my role and the expectations, I have a lot of opportunities to expand my skill base with each project. I have been on several projects with very different roles. I build new skills in each role and I have really enjoyed taking those skills and applying them as I accept new responsibilities.”

Jennifer has found that challenges are never in short supply at Accenture. “Even as a consultant, I am expected to perform as a manager and leader. My first role with Accenture involved leading a project team for a large client with an extensive set of requirements. My manager made sure that I had the right tools to do my job, providing support where it was needed, but giving me full autonomy to manage my team and get the work done.” Having a strong support system has helped her solve these challenges. Her career counselor has been an excellent mentor, and she has also found several other key managers who provide feedback, opportunities, and development points. In turn, Jennifer serves as a mentor to some of the newer members of her project teams. “Their development is as important to me as my own. It is important to pass on the key development points that I receive from my managers and mentors onto my team members."

In addition to her project work, Jennifer is also a part of the Cleveland Supply Chain Community, which proved to be an excellent networking source for her in the past year. She has also taken an active part in recruiting candidate like herself for the Supply Chain practice. “Considering that I am a recent MBA graduate, I can understand the perspective of experienced MBAs who are interested in pursuing a career with Accenture. This has allowed me to work with universities and our internal recruiting team to find people who may be a good fit for our team.”
